Supplying power to your indoor sauna

Sacramento Sauna recommends using a licensed electrical contractor for electrical alterations required to supply 240 volt power to your new sauna’s location. We can supply your electrician with the specifications they need for your chosen sauna model or you can use our approved independent electrical service co. They are familiar with sauna installations.

It is our standard practice to have the electrician install a

240 volt receptacle for use on the 240 volt saunas listed

above. When we install the sauna, a corresponding plug and

custom fit cord are included with the install process.  

The receptacle used is shown here as it should be installed

in the wall with ground terminal up. Location of the

receptacle is typically behind the sauna but if the sauna

cannot be easily moved then space behind the

sauna to remove the plug from the receptacle should be

considered.

The location of the power cord where it enters the sauna

is typically at the back and bottom right side.

 

120 Volt - 15A

HM44  /  S810 IR  /  S820 IR

These saunas are designed to be able to be plugged into standard household receptacles which have a maximum deliverable loads of approximately 1800 watts. All of our 15 amp sauna models will use most or all of that amount of wattage. For example an HM44 will require 1700 watts of power to perform well. Having a qualified electrical contractor check for any load issues can often cure any deficiencies that may arise such as a bad circuit breaker, loose connections somewhere in the circuit or a loose receptacle you are plugging the sauna into.

120 Volt - 20A

HM44  /  S825 IR  /  S830 IR  /  S840 IR  /  S870 IR  /  S880 IR

Homes are typically wired with 15 amp circuits. If you

are planning to use one of the above models you will

need to have an electrical contractor install a 20 amp

circuit for use with the sauna. If you are planning to

use the sauna in a garage it may already be outfitted

with 20 amp receptacles. As with the 15 amp models,

20 amp saunas will use all or most of the circuits

2400 watt delivery. For that reason, it is important to

consider installation of an additional dedicated circuit.
